BYD App Guide: Remote A/C, Lock, Charging and Health Checks from Your Phone
Share
The BYD App lets your phone control and check your Atto 3 remotely over the internet. You can switch the A/C on to pre-cool the cabin, lock or unlock the doors, flash the lights and honk to find the car, and see live SOC, range, tyre pressures, and any fault alerts. Setup is account-based using the email you registered at your BYD dealer, and both the phone and car need to be online for remote control to work.
Quick-Stats: What the BYD App Does
| Measurement | Detail (from the Atto 3 manual) |
|---|---|
| Where to download | Search "BYD" on Google Play or the App Store |
| Login | Email registered at your BYD dealer |
| Remote A/C | Yes, on/off and temperature |
| Remote lock/unlock | Yes |
| Locate car | Flash lights and honk |
| Live status | SOC, range, tyre pressure, fault alerts |
| Connection needed | Phone and vehicle both online |
Downloading and Setting Up the BYD App
The BYD App is BYD's own connected-car app.
- Search "BYD" on Google Play or the App Store and install it.
- Open the app and tap Sign up.
- Enter the email address registered at your BYD dealer, tap to send a verification code, enter the code, then set a password.
- Choose the correct country or region in the top corner, or your vehicle data will not be accessible.
Linking the App to Your Atto 3
There is no separate scan-to-pair step. The car is linked to your account through the email registered at purchase.
- Use the exact email your dealer registered, or sign-up will fail.
- Once logged in, your Atto 3 appears on the homepage.
- If you have more than one BYD, tap the vehicle name in the top left to switch between them.
Remote Climate Control: Pre-Cooling Your Cabin
This is the feature owners use most in an Australian summer.
- On the app homepage, toggle the A/C on or off.
- Tap the A/C card to set the cabin temperature and adjust settings.
- Switch it on a few minutes before you leave so the cabin is cool when you climb in.
Remote Lock, Unlock and Locate
The homepage carries the quick controls.
- Tap lock or unlock to secure or open the doors remotely.
- Use flash and honk, or flash only, to find the car in a busy car park.
- The doors and windows screen shows their current status. Remote window operation is not described in the manual, so check what your app version offers.
Charging Status, SOC and Range
The app is a quick way to check on a charging session without going outside.
- The homepage shows state of charge, remaining driving range, and whether the car is charging.
- Tyre pressures and other system statuses sit alongside it.
- The manual's app section does not document an in-app charging timer, so set scheduled charging from the car's charging menu and check your app version for any timer option. For the basics, see our guide to the Atto 3's charging connectors.
Vehicle Status and Fault Alerts
Rather than a fluids report, the app gives a live status dashboard.
- It surfaces vehicle error and fault information so you spot a warning early.
- It shows tyre pressures, plus seat heater and ventilation status.
- For anything mechanical such as fluids and brakes, rely on the in-car warnings and your service schedule, since the app focuses on connected status and remote control.
Trip and Energy Data: App vs Car
The manual does not document trip history or energy consumption inside the app.
- Your detailed trip and energy figures live in the car's own trip computer and driver display.
- The app's role is remote control and live status, so treat the two as complementary.
Adding a Second Driver: Keys vs App Access
The manual does not describe sharing app access with another person, and sharing your login is not advisable.
- For a second driver, hand over a physical key: the NFC key card or an additional electronic smart key.
- These give full access to lock, unlock, and drive without exposing your account.
- Keep your app password to yourself, and recover or change it under Account and security if needed.
Troubleshooting: Login and Connection Issues
- Sign-up fails: you must use the exact email registered at your BYD dealer.
- No vehicle data: set the correct country or region in the app, or your data will not load.
- Remote commands not working: both your phone and the car need an internet connection, so check signal at the car's location.
- Forgotten password: reset it under Account and security.
The app can also run software updates: tap through to System, Version, Version update, Upgrade, with the car parked safely in Park. For the full process, see our guide to managing your Atto 3's software updates.
Common Mistakes Owners Make
- Using a personal email instead of the dealer-registered one. Sign-up will fail.
- Picking the wrong region. Your vehicle data will not appear.
- Expecting remote control with the car offline. Both devices must be online.
- Sharing your login. Use a spare key for a second driver instead.
- Moving the car mid-update. Stay parked in P throughout an OTA.
The BYD App turns your phone into a remote for the Atto 3: pre-cool the cabin, lock up, find the car, and check charge and tyres at a glance. Set it up with the right email and region, keep both devices online, and you have most of what you need day to day.
Since the app pairs with your phone, a tidy bydaccessories.store phone mount and wireless charging pad keep it handy on the move. You can find more manual-checked walkthroughs in our growing library of BYD owner guides.
