BYD Shark 6 Dashboard Controls Diagram: Every Button, Mapped

The BYD Shark 6's manual maps the dashboard into 11 numbered zones, and three matter most on day one: the physical EV/HEV mode switch button, the AVH auto-hold switch, and the interior tailgate release. The steering wheel adds 14 switches, driving assistance on the left, media and menus on the right, including the ute-specific Terrain button. The full map is below.

The Dashboard's 11 Zones

The Three Controls That Define This Ute

  • The EV/HEV button (zone 9): The Shark 6's whole personality on one physical switch, electric for town, engine for distance, no menu-diving required, and reachable without your eyes leaving the road, with the strategy in our driving modes guide
  • The AVH switch (zone 6): Auto hold keeps the brakes clamped at lights so your foot can relax, gold in traffic with a load on, and one press to enable before the crawl begins
  • The interior tailgate release (zone 7): Drop the tray from the driver's seat before you have even walked around

The Steering Wheel's 14 Switches

Left side, the driving cluster:

  • Cruise switch: Turns the cruise system on or off
  • +/Reset and -/Set rocker: Reset resumes cruise with previous settings, Set locks the current speed as the target
  • Distance + and Distance -: Step the ACC following gap through four time-based levels
  • Panoramic view: Toggles the surround camera, a parking gift on a 5.5 metre ute
  • Driving information: Cycles the cluster's info screens, press and hold to clear the current one

Right side, media and interface:

  • Scroll button: Roll for volume, press to mute
  • Left and Right buttons: Previous and next station or track, and list navigation
  • Instrument cluster/Back: Steps back through cluster menus
  • Call: Bluetooth phone control from the rim
  • Speech recognition: Wakes voice control for climate, media, and navigation
  • Mode: Hops between media sources
  • Terrain: The ute button, switching terrain modes without leaving the wheel

The Walk-Around Zones

The manual's exterior view completes the tour before you sit down: light switches and door locking, the refuelling flap for the PHEV's petrol half, the power side mirrors, the charging trio of Mode 2 cable, AC pile, and DC pile procedures, the spare tyre's home, and the tailgate. Ten minutes walking the ute with those page references open turns the whole machine familiar, outside first, cockpit second.

Driving the Cluster Without Looking Away

The wheel's info trio works as a loop: the driving information button cycles the cluster's screens, the scroll and left-right keys move within menus, and the back button steps out again, so trip data, tyre pressures, and settings all live a thumb-flick away. Practise the loop once while parked and the cluster stops being a destination and becomes a glance.

Interior and Door Zones

The manual's interior view adds six more: the centre console cubby, cup holders, gear shift controls, light switches, seats, and seat belts, while the door view maps the interior handle, the window switches with central locking, side mirror adjustment, and the door bins. Learning the Cockpit in One Evening

  • Parked first: Cycle the driving information screens and cluster menus with the wheel until both feel automatic
  • Program the muscle memory: EV/HEV, AVH, and hazard, find all three with your eyes shut
  • Set the ACC gap early: Pick your following level in the driveway, not mid-merge
  • Meet the Terrain button: Know it exists before the day the track demands it
  • Read the lights: When a symbol appears mid-drive, our dashboard warning lights guide translates it

Common Mistakes

  • Hunting the touchscreen for EV/HEV: It is a physical button on the dash
  • Never touching AVH: Traffic with a loaded tray is exactly what it is for
  • Walking around for the tailgate: Zone 7 opens it from the seat
  • Confusing Set and Reset: Set captures now, Reset resumes before
  • Leaving the ACC gap on default: Four levels exist so towing and traffic can differ
  • Forgetting the panoramic button: One press beats craning past a tray
