- Solid light: A vehicle is in your blind spot, or one is approaching quickly in the adjacent lane. The indicator on the matching side mirror lights up.
- Flashing light: If you activate the turn signal on that same side while a vehicle is detected, the indicator flashes to warn you of a risky lane change.
The rule is simple: a steady light means stay in your lane and look again; a flashing light means do not change lanes yet.
At What Speed Does BSA Activate?

- BSD: Active between 15 and 150 km/h while driving forward
- RCTA: Active when reversing at 15 km/h or less

BSA When Towing: Does It Still Work?

- Expect interference: A trailer directly behind the radars can cause constant false alerts or block detection of vehicles in adjacent lanes.
- Wide loads worsen it: A trailer wider than the ute extends past the radar coverage, creating new blind spots the system cannot see.

Why BSA May Miss Motorcycles at High Speed
BSA is designed for normal traffic flow, not extreme speed differences. The manual is explicit that the system may not give proper warnings on vehicles approaching from behind at high speed.
- The 80 km/h threshold: When a vehicle closes from behind at a relative speed above 80 km/h, BSA may detect it too late or not at all.
- Why motorcycles slip through: A fast motorcycle splitting lanes or closing rapidly can exceed this relative speed, arriving before the radar flags it.
- Other gaps: Detection is also difficult when a vehicle behind changes lane suddenly, at sharp turns or slopes, or when a target is obscured.

- Trusting the mirror indicators while towing. A trailer blocks the rear radars. Use towing mirrors and manual checks instead.
- Ignoring dirty radars. Mud or snow on the rear bumper silently disables BSA. Keep the corners clean.
