BYD Cashback Offers Australia: What Is Actually Included

For July 2026, BYD Australia is offering $2,500 cashback on the Sealion 5, 6 and 8 (all variants), Shark 6 (Dynamic Cab Chassis and Premium only) and Sealion 7 (Premium only), plus $2,000 on the MY25 Atto 3. Order by 31 July, delivered by 30 August. Fleet buyers, demos and stacked offers are excluded.

This article describes the offer current as at 25 July 2026, sourced from BYD Australia's official offers page. Cashback campaigns change monthly. If you are reading this after July 2026, confirm the live terms at bydautomotive.com.au/offers before ordering.

The headline number is not where buyers get caught out. The eligibility fine print is. Two models carry variant restrictions that are easy to miss, and three exclusion categories void the offer entirely.

Which variants qualify and which do not

Three of the five eligible model lines take every variant. Two do not, and this is where the money gets lost.

  • Sealion 5, Sealion 6, Sealion 8: all variants qualify, including the Sealion 8 in FWD and AWD forms.
  • Shark 6: Dynamic Cab Chassis and Premium only. Check with your dealer whether the specific Shark 6 variant you are quoting sits inside those two.
  • Sealion 7: Premium only. The Performance variant does not qualify.
  • Atto 3: MY25 builds only, at the lower $2,000 tier. Given the Atto 3 Evo is listed as coming soon on BYD's own site, this reads as a runout offer on existing stock.

The Sealion 7 restriction deserves emphasis because it changes the value equation between trims. If you were already deciding between the two, our comparison of what actually separates the Sealion 7 Premium from the Performance covers the hardware differences, and the cashback now adds $2,500 to the Premium side of that ledger.

Notably absent from the offer entirely: Dolphin, Seal, Atto 1, Atto 2, Seal 6 and Seal 6 Touring.

Order and delivery deadlines

Two dates have to line up, and only one of them is within your control.

  • Order placed: between 1 and 31 July 2026.
  • Vehicle delivered: by 30 August 2026.

BYD's published terms state that orders taken inside the campaign window that cannot be delivered by 30 August will be reviewed individually, and an extension may be approved case by case. That is a discretion, not a promise. Before ordering in the final week of July, ask your dealer in writing whether your build and colour combination can realistically land inside the window. Our guide to current BYD delivery timeframes in Australia gives you a realistic baseline to test the dealer's answer against.

One more deadline exists after delivery. Under the published campaign terms, BYD emails eligible customers a Cashback Application Form within days of delivery, and the payment is processed by bank transfer after the completed form is returned. Miss the form deadline and the entitlement is forfeited. Diarise it the day your car arrives.

Who is excluded

Three categories, applying identically to both the $2,500 and $2,000 tiers:

  • Fleet customers. If your purchase runs through a fleet arrangement, the offer does not apply.
  • Demonstrator or service loan vehicles. Ex-demo bargains and the cashback cannot be combined, because the cashback only applies to new orders.
  • Any transaction involving additional promotional offers or discounts. This is the broad one, covered next.

Eligibility is also not locked in when you sign. Under the published terms, it is confirmed only once BYD allocates a vehicle against your order, and allocation is subject to availability.

How cashback interacts with dealer discounting

This is the fine print that costs real money. The exclusion of "any transactions involving additional promotional offers or discounts" means the cashback is not designed to stack.

Practical implications:

  • If a dealer offers you a negotiated discount off the drive away price, that discount may disqualify the transaction from the cashback. $2,500 in cashback is worth less than a $3,000 negotiated discount, so run the numbers both ways.
  • If you are buying through a novated lease provider running its own BYD promotion, ask explicitly which offer applies, because you are unlikely to receive both.
  • Get the answer in writing before signing. "Will this transaction still qualify for the July cashback?" is a one-line email a dealer can answer in a minute.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming the Sealion 7 Performance qualifies. Premium only.
  • Quoting an old offer. Earlier BYD campaigns ran at different amounts on different models. Only the terms live at bydautomotive.com.au/offers count.
  • Stacking a dealer discount without checking. It can void the cashback entirely.
  • Ordering late July with a slow build. The delivery extension is discretionary, not guaranteed.
  • Forgetting the application form. The cashback is claimed after delivery, not deducted at purchase, and an unsubmitted form forfeits it.
  • Expecting the current Atto 3 offer on the incoming Atto 3 Evo. The $2,000 applies to MY25 stock only.
